Porto are enduring a very testing season in their respective league -where they are currently in third place and 15 points adrift of Benfica at the top – and a European campaign that has seen them scrape through by the skin of their teeth, winning the earlier round on away goals over two legs.
Sevilla are tonight’s opponents for them and it certainly won’t be easy considering the Portuguese club have a horrendous defensive record in the competition – conceding seven goals from four games. The Spanish side recently had their impressive six game winning streak ended at the hands of Celta Vigo, but they will fancy their chances against a Porto side not themselves this season.
Nevertheless, home advantage has led bookmakers William Hill to back the struggling Porto with odds of 5/6 to get the win tonight, but it certainly won’t be easy. It could well be a high-scoring affair between the two sides too based on their records. For the winner, it could be a big opportunity to put one foot in the door to the semi-finals of the Europa League. But will it be Porto?
