Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola understands that FC Porto are hot on the trail of Universidad de Chile defender Igor Lichnovsky.
The Dragons have been keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old for quite a while, but they have now decided to step up their interest.
According to A Bola, Porto officials are set to open talks with the player’s employers with a view of luring the Chilean to Estadio do Dragao this summer.
It is believed Univesidad de Chile are prepared to entertain offers for their prized asset, although they are holding out for €5 million.
Igor Lichnovsky is widely regarded as one of world’s most talented centre-backs and he has already made 41 league appearances for the Chilean giants.
The youngster, who is currently a member of Chile Under-21 side, also has some Copa Libertadores experience, having appeared in three campaigns of South America’s elite competition, making eight appearances.
