Portuguese daily Record understands that FC Porto are on the verge of signing Flamengo forward Liedson.
Dragons boss Vitor Pereira is desperate to sign a back-up for star striker Jackson Martinez and believes the former Sporting Lisbon forward would be a good addition to the squad.
Liedson, 35, has a contract until December 2013 at Flamengo, but his agent confirmed the Brazilian club were prepared to sell one of their highest earners.
“There are negotiations. We are waiting to see how they evolve,” agent Bruno Paiva told Lancenet. “If it’s good for Liedson and Flamengo, a transfer will be made. Otherwise, he will see out his contract.”
The veteran forward is currently earning around €70,000 per month and new Flamengo president is keen to get rid of the player in the January transfer window.
This basically means that FC Porto can sign him on a nominal fee, with the Dragons likely to take advantage of the opportunity.
Liedson has spent much of his playing career in Portugal, playing for Sporting Lisbon, where he scored a total of 116 goals in 214 league appearances for the Lions.
