FC Porto are on the verge of signing Argentine midfielder Ricky Alvarez, O Jogo has moved to reveal.
With Sunderland failing to exercise the purchase option in his contract, the 27-year-old believes he has become a free agent and his case is currently reviewed by FIFA.
And while San Lorenzo were thought to be closing in on his signature last week, the latest reports suggest that Alvarez will be joining FC Porto after all.
The attacking midfielder has reportedly arrived in Lisbon to undergo medical tests ahead of signing a one-year deal with the Dragons.
FC Porto were in the market for an attacking midfielder after Oliver Torres returned to Atletico Madrid and they appear to have secured the signature of the former Inter Milan footballer.
Ricky Alvarez has spent last four years at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, making 73 Serie A appearances for the club and scoring 11 goals in total.
