Portuguese giants FC Porto have all but confirmed that Spanish forward Adrian Lopez will be leaving the club in the summer transfer window.
The Spain international has failed to prove his worth after arriving in an €11 million deal from Atletico Madrid a year ago, and a summer exit appears on the cards.
Coach Julen Lopetegui clearly does not have Adrian Lopez in his first team plans for the new season and has moved to reveal that the 27-year-old will be allowed to leave.
“Things did not go as expected and we had to make a decision. These things happen in football,” Lopetegui told reporters.
Adrian Lopez joined FC Porto as a marquee signing last summer after being one of the star performers in Atletico Madrid’s excellent season, especially impressing in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
However, the talented forward picked up an injury during pre-season and he never managed to nail down a regular starting berth at Estadio do Dragao.
He only started three league fixtures last term, while making another six substitute appearances.
