(GSM) – The 2010 final of the Portuguese League Cup will feature a dream encounter of two of the nation’s top sides, Benfica and Porto.

Benfica were the much stronger team in Tuesday’s semi final encounter with local rivals Sporting, beating their opponents 1-4. David Luiz, Ramires, Luisao and Oscar Cardozo scored for the away side, and only Liedson found the target for the hosts.

The second semi final took place on Wednesday as Porto beat Academica de Coimbra 1-0 at O Dragao stadium.

The defending league champions did struggle in their home match but finally broke the deadlock through Mariano Gonzalez in the 81st minute.

Benfica are the defending League Cup champions after beating Sporting in last year’s final.
