Portuguese newspaper A Bola understands that FC Porto winger Silvestre Varela is likely to leave the club before the transfer window closes on Monday.
The 28-year-old is believed to be looking for a new challenge and has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs in the past.
Despite being considered a first team regular last season, Varela hasn’t even made the bench in club’s last two league games, which is enough to suggest he is on the verge of leaving.
West Ham are believed to be leading the chase after submitting an official proposal for the player’s services, but it remains to be seen whether they can reach an agreement with the winger’s current employers.
Silvestre Varela, who scored 25 goals in 90 Primeira Liga matches for Porto, while earning 19 Portugal caps, has a €30 million release clause in his contract, but is likely to be available for lot less.
