Portsmouth defender Sam Magri is set to join Liverpool on a one-week trial, the youngster has revealed.
The 17-year-old is part of England Under-17 national team and he took part at the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico last summer.
The promising defender is currently playing for Portsmouth Under-18 side and has been tipped to be promoted to the senior side.
However, instead of making his bow at Fratton Park, Magri could make his senior debut at Anfield as he is set to undergo a one-week trial with Liverpool.
The player has moved to confirm speculations that he is set link up with the Reds.
“Just to put everything to bed. Its true in what everyone is saying involving me,” the player wrote on his Twitter account.
The 17-year-old will be given a chance to impress boss Kenny Dalglish during his trial and if all goes well, he could join the Reds at the end of the season.
Magri’s current club Portsmouth are going through a very rough patch at the moment, as the Pompey have just entered administration for the second time in three years.
