Portsmouth chairman Peter Storrie admits that they are still keen on signing Real Madrid forward Javier Saviola.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Fratton Park this transfer window, but reports say that the Argentine will snub a move to the Premier League side.
“Obviously it’s no secret we have been talking to the Madrid boy Saviola and that’s one we have been seriously looking at,” Storrie told The News.
“The problem is we need someone to come in that’s going to play in the team straight away.
“He’s not played any football since November and you are talking about the Premier League, you need people that are regularly playing games and at the fitness level.
“But that’s an option we are still looking at.”
