Portsmouth escaped being put into administration on Wednesday when England’s High Court granted the Premier League club more time to outline how it plans to pay an outstanding tax bill.

The Court, which was presented by a winding-up petition filed against the club by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, was given until next week to present a statement of its financial position.

The cash-strapped club is being pursued for an outstanding Value Added Tax bill of 7.5 million pounds.
