(GSM) – Benfica jumped back to second place in the Portuguese league following a narrow win at Portimonense on Sunday.

The first half at the match between Portimonense and Lisbon giants Benfica went by without goals, but Benfica needed only four minutes in the second for Javi Garcia to break the deadlock.

Garcia’s goal would also be enough for Benfica to take the three points.

Sporting Lisbon earned their third win in eight games, beating Rio Ave 1-0 in the capital city. Abel scored the only goal with just a minute left to go in regular time.

Leaders Porto play on Monday, hosting Uniao de Leiria at O Dragao stadium.
