Benfica have not given up on signing River Plate youngster Rogelio Funes Mori and the Eagles are preparing a final assault on the 19-year-old, according to A Bola.

Following the two-week break in negotiations, the Eagles have reopened talks with River Plate as they hope to finalize the transfer within the next week.

The offer of €10 million is already on the table and that could be enough to persuade Argentine giants to sell their most-prized asset as they are going through a severe financial crisis.

Even after the sale of Diego Buonanotte to Malaga, River need extra cash to fund the transfer of Andres D’Alessandro from Internacional and they could obtain it by selling Funes Mori.

Sources close to the club say River will complete the sale next week, but Benfica are not the only team interested in the promising striker.

Fiorentina and Porto are also keen, with the Dragons directly negotiating with player’s representatives Lucas Bernasconi and Ronald Baroni, so it looks as though the Portuguese giants will be battling hard to lure Funes Mori in the next few days.
