Juventus boss Luigi Delneri does not ‘pay any attention’ to the Serie A table, but he was happy with the win that kept his side third.
Juve became the first side in nearly a year to return from Catania with a win, after Simone Pepe’s opener and a double from Fabio Quagliarella secured Delneri’s side a 3-1 win on Sunday.
The win keeps Juve third on the table – three points behind second-placed Lazio and six in arrears of league-leaders AC Milan.
But while Delneri was keen to praise his players in the win – and in particular on-loan Napoli striker Quagliarella – the Serie A table was a far less attractive topic.
“It was an important victory for us,” the Juventus manager told Sky Sport after the game.
“It arrived after a strong performance from the side.”
“Other than the first 15 minutes – where Catania put us under great pressure – we were able to get out of trouble and score a great goal. It had been a year since Catania lost at home.”
“Quagliarella? He has demonstrated to us that he can score when the team require him to. As for the ladder? I don’t pay any attention to it.”
