Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou conceded individual errors had cost his side during their 4-2 defeat by Wolves on Sunday.

Spurs were beaten for the 10th time on the road in the Premier League this season, after going down at Molineux.

The visitors conceded to Rayan Ait-Nouri after just 85 seconds having failed to deal with a corner, while Djed Spence’s own goal put them 2-0 behind before half-time.

Wolves then pounced on a Cristian Romero mistake as Jorgen Strand Larsen scored their third, and after Richarlison had made it 3-2, Matheus Cunha intercepted Lucas Bergvall’s loose pass to score his side’s fourth.

However, Postecoglou refused to point the finger of blame at any of his players, insisting he had otherwise been impressed by their performance.

“I thought we played pretty well, to be honest, but we conceded some pretty poor goals,” he told BBC Sport.

“Individual errors unfortunately cost us today, and it’s very disappointing to lose.

“There were just moments in the game which we’re usually pretty good at controlling. We didn’t today and that made the game awfully difficult for us.

“Mistakes are part of football. I’m not going to be holding anyone to account. The only person that gets held to account is me. We got punished for our errors today.”

The Spurs head coach also confirmed Son Heung-min, who was absent with a foot injury, should be fine for Thursday’s season-defining Europa League quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Mathys Tel – the scorer of Tottenham’s first goal at Molineux – urged his team-mates to dust themselves down and be ready for their trip to Germany.

“We can’t give up. We have to learn from this situation, and just go again and show who we are,” he told SpursPlay. “We have to concentrate from the first minute until the last minute.

“Today was unlucky for us. We showed some good things, but we made a lot of mistakes, and that’s why we lost. We have a big game next week, and we have to be ready.”

Meanwhile, Wolves’ resurgence continues, as they recorded four straight Premier League victories for the first time, while moving 14 points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining.

Head coach Vitor Pereira highlighted the importance of togetherness in their run, while defender Toti Gomes spoke of the increased belief within the camp.

“I can say that I’m very happy; very happy with the team, the personality, the commitment, the organisation and the confidence to play,” Pereira said. “We faced a strong team, but in my opinion, we deserve the result.

“We are together. We are committed. Together, we can be stronger and stronger.”

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Toti added. “It’s good to conquer this, it’s not easy in the Premier League. This is just [a result of] the work we’ve been doing on the training ground.

“It’s all about the team spirit. Even when we conceded a goal, we didn’t go back, we kept fighting and scored again. We know we are a strong team and believe in ourselves.

“No clean sheet but, sometimes, games are like this. We keep scoring and, in the end, it’s important to leave with the three points. We just need to keep believing.”
