(GSM)- Brighton boss Gustavo Poyet is planning to utilize his entire squad over the incredibly tight Christmas schedule where The Seagulls will face Swindon Town, Leyton Orient, Wycombe and Stockport over 15 days .
Poyet has a full-strength squad available for Saturday’s trip to Swindon. Only Colin Hawkins will miss out due to his long-term injury. However, Poyet wants to be careful to protect his players from picking up injuries since there are many games to play over a short period of time.
“We are very lucky to have a near full squad to it’s very important for the manager to make decisions and pick the right team,” said the Uruguayan manager.
“I have big decisions coming up with games on Boxing Day and the 28th.
“Are we, as a team and as individuals, ready to play two games in three days? I’m not sure so it’s going to be very important for me to make sure I make the right decisions to try to win both games.”
Poyet had been appointed only 5 weeks ago by League One side Brighton as manager.
Poyet featured as a player for teams including Real Zaragoza, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. After his playing career ended he moved into coaching, with spells as assistant manager to his ex-Chelsea teammate Dennis Wise at Swindon Town and Leeds United. Poyet was also assistant manager to Juande Ramos at Tottenham.
