Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli was proud of his team following their 2-1 home defeat to Lyon in the Champions League last night.
Prandelli reckons the Tuscans can leave the competition with their ‘heads held high’.
He said: “I think we leave the competition with our heads held high, as we are gaining from the experience of playing big clubs like this.
“I believe this side has a future and we can build on this. Aside from the game with Steaua, I’d say Fiorentina always played good football, picked up valuable experience and pushed for the result.”
He continued: “I complimented my players in the locker room because they gave everything and you cannot ask for more than that.
“This is our first year in the Champions League and when facing the top sides you need good play and a great deal of experience.
“As I have said for a long time, this is an experience we need to go through with an open mind, because it will serve us for the future, so I maintain the overall outcome was positive.”
