(GSM) – Cesare Prandelli couldn’t hide his anger over the refereeing decisions that penalised Fiorentina in München.
The Italian tactician blamed the linesman and referee Tom Henning Ovrebo for La Viola’s painful 2-1 loss against Bayern München.
“We did everything right on the field. We only failed to double up our marking on the linesman,” Prandelli joked after the match.
“There were some incidents that changed the game – Massimo Gobbi’s dismissal, Miroslav Klose not getting sent off and the offside goal.”
Gobbi received a red card after an elbow on Arjen Robben, but it was a very harsh decision as he seemed to catch him in the chest as the Dutch winger ran past him.
Moments later Klose was only booked for a studs-on-ankle challenge on Per Kroldrup, then Klose scored at the death when visibly offside.
“From the bench we already saw it was offside. It was not difficult to tell. We were all angry at the end, as everyone saw it was offside,” raged Prandelli.
“When you play with 10 men for 25 minutes and work that hard, you want your efforts rewarded.
“It was a great performance, we know in two weeks we’ll challenge them in Florence. Bayern are a wonderful side, but if we play like that then we can go through.”
Fiorentina had a steady first-half, but went 1-0 down after Robben scored from the spot.
“The team was disappointed at half-time and I reassured them we were only a quarter of a way through the tie. We were organised and Bayern were struggling to send passes through.
“This remains our spirit and we will continue with even more belief in the second leg.
“The team will know it must keep working like this, as by playing well sooner or later the incidents have to go this way.”
