(GSM) – The Italian Football Association (FIGC) will have a fight on their hands if they want to contract Cesare Prandelli as national coach after the World Cup. Fiorentina owner Diego Della Valle ruled out the possibility of Prandelli turning his back on La Viola to take the reins of the Italy national team.

Italy boss Marcello Lippi is likely to take up a role as Juventus director after June’s tournament. Prandelli has emerged as clear favourite for the job in the Italian press. But Della Valle says he has no intention of allowing the Viola coach to lead the Azzurri in their qualification campaign for Euro 2012.

“He is a great tactician and we would be pleased,” Della Valle told Affariitaliani.it.

“But we do not even consider the possibility of him leaving.”
