Almeria and Real Madrid will lock horns with each other in La Liga this coming weekend. The match between Vicente Moreno’s side and Carlo Ancelotti’s team will be held at the Power Horse Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 6:30pm UK time on Saturday.

Almeria

UD Almeria are a modest club in Spain who tend to move between La Liga and the Segunda Division. They played in the Spanish top flight for two seasons between 2012 and 2014 and then went down to the second tier. Almeria won the Segunda Division title in 2021-22 and played in La Liga last season.

And they did pretty much. UD Almeria’s main objective last season was to finish above the bottom three. And they did just that. Vicente Moreno’s side picked up 41 points from 38 matches, just one more than third-from-bottom Real Valladolid.

UD Almeria were quite busy in the summer transfer window. Centre-forward Luis Suarez has moved from Marseille and defensive midfielder Dion Lopy switched from Reims. Almeria also signed attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas from Real Madrid, right-back Marc Pubill, centre-back Edgar Gonzalez and central midfielder Iddrisu Baba.

Team News:

Almeria are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Real Madrid. Diego Marina will be the goalkeeper for the home team. Alejandro Pozo, Edgar Gonzalez, Srjdan Babic and Sergio Akieme will be the four defenders. Iddrisu Baba and Lucas Robertone will be the two defensive midfielders. Luis Suarez will lead the line for Almeria and will have Adrian Embarba, Largie Ramazani and Lazaro will be behind him in attacking midfield.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world and will aim to win the La Liga title as well as the UEFA Champions League this season. Madrid did not do particularly well last season. Los Blancos could not really challenge Barcelona for the league title and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Madrid had a pretty strong pre-season, and they kicked off their La Liga campaign on a very positive note this past weekend. Los Blancos got the better of Athletic Bilbao away from home. Rodrygo scored the opening goal for Madrid after 28 minutes, and Jude Bellingham made it 2-0 on 36 minutes. It saw the England international midfielder score on his debut for Madrid after joining the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos were quite busy in the summer transfer window. Jude Bellingham joined from Dortmund, Arda Guler moved from Fenerbahce, Fran Garcia moves from Rayo Vallecano, Kepa has joined from Chelsea on loan and Joselu has switched from Espanyol on loan.

Team News:

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is likely to field a 4-1-2-1-2 formation against Almeria. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will be the two forwards for Los Blancos. Jude Bellingham will be deployed as the number 10 and will have Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni behind him. Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined Madrid from Chelsea, and the Spain international is likely to slot straight into goal. Eder Militao is injured and will not play.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Almeria had 60% of the possession against Rayo Vallecano.
  • Almeria had 5 shots on target against Rayo Vallecano.
  • Real Madrid had 54% of the possession against Athletic Bilbao.
  • Real Madrid had 8 shots on target against Athletic Bilbao.
  • Real Madrid earned 5 corners against Athletic Bilbao.

Conclusion

Although Almeria are at home, Real Madrid are a much better team. Almeria are not going to make it easy for Los Blancos, but the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners have more than enough to pick up all three points from the encounter with ease.

Prediction: Real Madrid to win 4-0

Best Odds: 17/1
