AS Monaco and Metz will lock horns with each other in Ligue 1 this coming weekend. The match between Les Rouge et Blanc and Les Grenats will be held at Stade Louis-II and is scheduled to kick off at 4:05 pm UK time on Sunday.

AS Monaco

AS Monaco are one of the biggest clubs in Ligue 1 and are doing extremely well at the moment. While Paris Saint-Germain still remain the favourites to win the Ligue 1 title, Monaco are showing some great signs that they could actually beat them to the championship.

Adi Hütter’s side are at the top of the Ligue 1 table at the moment with 17 points from eight matches, a point clear of Nice in second. Monaco are two points ahead of defending champions PSG in third. They have lost just one match and have scored as many as 21 goals in the league.

AS Monaco have won three of their last five Ligue 1 matches and have won their last two league games. Les Rouge et Blanc got the better of Reims 3-1 away from home in Ligue 1 before the international break.

Team News:

AS Monaco are likely to line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation. Philipp Kohn will start in goal for the visiting team. Wilfried Singo, Guillermo Maripan and Soungoutou Magassa will be the three defenders and will have Krepin Diatta, Youssouf Fofana, Denis Zakaria and Ismail Jakobs in front of them in midfield. Folarin Balogun and Wissam Ben Yedder will be the two forwards and will have Aleksandr Golovin behind them in attacking midfield.

Metz

Metz won promotion from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 at the end of last season and are expected to be among the clubs to fight for survival in the top flight of French football this season. And things are panning out that way.

László Bölöni’s side are 15th in the Ligue 1 table at the moment with eight points from eight matches. Metz are a point above the bottom three and have lost their last three league matches.

Metz have won just two of their eight Ligue 1 matches this season. They lost 1-0 to Nice at home in the league before the international break. It followed a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Toulouse on the road in the league.

Team News:

Metz are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against AS Monaco.  Alexandre Oukidja will be in goal for the home team. Koffi Kouao, Ismael Traore, Feli Cande and Matthieu Udol will be the four defenders. Joseph N’Duquidi and Danley Jean Jacques will be the two defensive midfielders. Oscar Estupinan will lead the line for Metz and will have Abdoulie Jallow, Lamine Camara and Pape Diallo behind him in attacking midfield.

Key Factors to Consider

  • AS Monaco have scored 21 goals in 8 Ligue 1 matches.
  • Metz have scored 7 goals in 8 Ligue 1 matches.
  • AS Monaco have conceded 11 goals in 8 Ligue 1 games.
  • Metz have conceded 14 goals in 8 Ligue 1 games.
  • Wissam Ben Yedder has scored 5 goals in 8 Ligue 1 matches for AS Monaco.

Conclusion

Metz are struggling at the moment and are among the candidates to get relegated from Ligue 1 at the end of the season. AS Monaco are doing extremely well at the moment and are at home for this match. It is hard to see anything but a win for Monaco this coming weekend.
