Aston Villa and Brentford will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this week. The match between Unai Emery’s side and Thomas Frank’s team will be held at Villa Park and is scheduled to kick off at Villa Park.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa are one of the biggest clubs in England and are a regular in the Premier League. The Villans have been doing well under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery and the fans are enjoying every moment of it.

Villa, though, are not having the best of times at the moment. Things have been poor for a while now. Emery’s side have lost three of their last four Premier League games. They are as low as 12th in the league table now with 19 points from 13 matches, but the positive aspect is that they are only four points behind Brighton and Hove Albion, who are currently fourth and occupy the final UEFA Champions League spot in the standings.

Emery’s side will head into the Premier League match against Brentford at Villa Park on Wednesday evening on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League. It came after a goalless draw with Juventus at Villa Park in the League Stage of the UEFA Champions League which followed a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in front of their fans in the league.

Despite their bad form, Villa midfielder John McGinn is confident that his team will do well this season. He told BBC Sport after the match against Chelsea: “We are in a tough moment as a group so it is important for us to stick together, don’t let what we have built break, take responsibility, take the criticism that will probably come our way and look to Wednesday.

“We have still got an opportunity to do something really special this season. We have a game on Wednesday and then on Saturday, so we have to turn it around quickly.”

Team News:

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Emiliano Martinez may not be in goal for the Villans due to injury. Robin Olsen could replace him. Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Lucas Digne will be the four defenders. Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans will be the two holding midfielders. Jaden Philogene, Morgan Rogers and John McGinn will be the three attacking midfielders. Ollie Watkins will lead the line for the Villans.

Brentford

Brentford are an established club in the Premier League now. The Bees may not be in a position to challenge for the European places in the league table, but they are good enough to at least push for a spot in the top four.

Under head coach Thomas Frank, Brentford are a decent side. They finished 16th in the Premier League table last season and are very likely to do better this time around. The London club are currently eighth in the league table with 20 points from 13 matches, just three points behind fourth-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.

Brentford will head into the Premier League match against Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park on Wednesday evening on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Leicester City at the Gtech Community Stadium. It came after a goalless draw with Everton away from home at Goodison Park which followed a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth in front of their fans.

Team News:

Brentford are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Head coach Thomas Frank will have Mark Flekken in goal for the Bees. Sepp van den Berg, Nathan Collins, Ethan Pinnock and Keane Lewis-Potter will be the four defenders. Christian Norgaard and Mathias Jensen will be the two holding midfielders. Bryan Mbeumo, Mikkel Damsgaard and Kevin Schade are likely to be the three attacking midfielders.  Yoane Wissa will lead the line for the London club.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Aston Villa have lost 3 of their last 4 Premier League matches.
  • Aston Villa have won 1 of their last 6 Premier League matches.
  • Aston Villa have conceded 22 goals in 13 Premier League matches.
  • Brentford have scored 26 goals in 13 Premier League games.
  • Brentford have conceded 23 goals in 13 Premier League games.

Conclusion

Aston Villa are in a bad run of form at the moment. Brentford are doing better than the Villans. Although Villa manager Emery has the better team at his disposal, it is likely that the game will end in a draw.
