Atletico Madrid and Valencia will lock horns with each other in La Liga this coming weekend. The match between Diego Simeone’s side and Rubén Baraja’s team will be held at the Metropolitano Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm UK time on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in Spain who regularly challenge for the La Liga title and play in the UEFA Champions League. Just like in the last campaign, Atletico will be keen on clinching La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey this time around.

Diego Simeone’s side finished as high as fourth in the La Liga table last season. Atletico are third in the La Liga table at the moment with eight points from four matches. Los Colchoneros are level on points with defending champions and city rivals Real Madrid and are  four points behind leaders Barcelona.

Atletico will head into the La Liga match against Valencia on the back of a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao away from home in the league. It came after a goalless draw with Espanyol in front of their games in the league which followed a 3-0 victory over Girona at Metropolitano Stadium in La Liga.

Team News:

Atletico Madrid are likely to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation against Valencia. Juan Musso will be in goal for the home team. Robin Le Normand, José María Giménez and Reinildo Mandava will be the three defenders. Marcos Llorente, Pablo Barrios, Koke and Samuel Lino will be the four midfielders. Antoine Griezmann and Conor Gallagher will be the two attacking midfielders. Julian Alavez will lead the line for the former La Liga matches.

Valencia

Valencia are one of the biggest clubs in Spain, but things have been dire for them for a while now. Los Che are not in a position to challenge for the La Liga title or even to compete for the UEFA Champions League places in the table.

Los Che finished ninth in the La Liga table last season and will be hoping to at least push to end up in the European places. Valencia are at the foot of the La Liga table at the moment with just a point from four matches, a point behind Real Betis, who are currently 17th in the standings.

Valencia will head into the La Liga match against Atletico Madrid this coming weekend on the back of a 1-1 draw with Villarreal at home in the league. It came after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao away from home in La Liga which followed a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Celta de Vigo in the league.

Team News:

Valencia are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Atletico Madrid. Giorgi Mamardashvili will be in goal for the visiting team and will have Thierry Correia, César Tárrega, Cristhian Mosquera and Jesús Vázquez in front of him in defence. Diego López, Hugo Guillamón, Pepelu and Luis Rioja will be the four midfielders. André Almeida and Hugo Duro will be the two forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Atletico Madrid have scored 6 goals in 4 La Liga games so far this campaign.
  • Atletico Madrid have conceded 2 goals in 4 La Liga games so far this campaign.
  • Atletico Madrid have won 2 and draw 2 of their 4 La Liga games so far this campaign.
  • Valencia have conceded 7 goals in 4 La Liga matches so far this season.
  • Valencia have lost 3 of their 4 La Liga matches so far this season.

Conclusion

Atletico Madrid are a much better team than Valencia and are doing well at the moment. It is likely that Diego Simeone’s side will pick up all three points from the La Liga match against Valencia at the Metropolitano Stadium with ease.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid to win 3-0
