The German Bundesliga is back this weekend with another full slate of enticing fixtures for us to sink our teeth into. Things are starting to heat up at both ends of the table, but today, we’re going to focus on a tie between two of the ultimate bridesmaids in the title race – Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Between now and May, there may be fewer games more important for their championship ambitions than this one.

Borussia Dortmund

Momentum is a huge thing in the beautiful game and very few clubs have more of it in European football than Borussia Dortmund. They’ve been winning in every direction and they appear to have a built-in mentality of grinding out results by any means necessary. Bayern are the ones who they’ll be chasing down, as it always the case, and we suspect they’ve got a pretty good shot.

RB Leipzig

Many aren’t big fans of the RB Leipzig project, largely due to the ‘wooden’ feeling it has – but nobody can deny the success they’ve enjoyed. In the wake of the cup win last year, the big hope is that they can eventually (and finally) claim Bundesliga gold. They have the talent in their squad to do it, but the big question is whether or not they’ll wind up getting lost in the shuffle.

Conclusion

Dortmund have been beaten from pillar to post by Leipzig in their last few outings but with the team spirit they have now, we expect them to really come out firing. They’ll work down the flanks, push through the middle and generally play with an increasingly high tempo, even if it leaves them vulnerable at the back. Ultimately, in a six-goal thriller, the hosts will come away with a big 4-2 win.
