Welcome back to the Premier League, and welcome back to a weekend full of high level action from English football’s biggest and best sides. One game, in particular, that has caught our eye is the encounter between Bournemouth and Arsenal. It’s fair to say that both teams have had their ups and downs this season but there have certainly been more positives than negatives, to the point where this is much more than just another game – this is a game between two sides who harbour very realistic ambitions of making it into Europe. Of course, whether or not they accomplish that goal depends entirely on their consistency in such a difficult league.
Bournemouth
The things that Bournemouth have been able to accomplish under the guidance of Eddie Howe defy logic in many ways, proving once and for all that you must always expect the unexpected. The Cherries are in a great position to make a run for the European spots in the Premier League and it doesn’t seem like they’re afraid of anyone, although that theory will be tested against the Gunners. They’re good, but can they hang with a team that they may well be competing with throughout the remainder of the season?
Team News
Callum Wilson will lead the way for Bournemouth, with Smith out injured and King/Stanislas both being doubts.
Arsenal
The sky is the limit for this Arsenal team under Unai Emery, who seems to ignore anyone who says this team can’t challenge at the very top in every competition they play in. Some would argue that their unbeaten run is hanging over their heads like a bad smell but that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case, and in fact, it feels like they’re only getting better and better. This game will serve as a great indicator of what the international break did to their momentum, for better or worse.
Team News
Lacazette and Aubameyang are expected to start alongside each other up top although both have slight niggles with Koscielny and Monreal also struggling.
Factors to Consider
- The game will be played at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium.
- Bournemouth have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Arsenal have won two and drawn four of their last six games.
- Arsenal lead 5-1 in the overall head to head standings.
- In their last meeting back in January, Bournemouth won 2-1.
Conclusion
As much as people have been saying that Arsenal are running out of steam, we still feel as if they’re only just getting started. They’ve been able to pull big results out of the bag on multiple occasions throughout the course of the campaign so far and we believe they’re going to do it again – in convincing fashion. We’re going to say that Arsenal score twice before the break in quick succession before adding a third late in the game, ensuring that they keep this magnificent unbeaten run of theirs going.
