We’ve got some rare midweek Premier League action coming up tomorrow night, as relegation battlers Brighton & Hove Albion host Tottenham Hotspur. The two sides couldn’t be further away from one another when it comes to their hopes and expectations for the season, and with just a handful of games remaining, they’ll both be desperate to reach their respective goals prior to the final day of the campaign.
Brighton
After an extremely successful first season in the Premier League, Brighton seem to have faltered down the stretch following five games without a victory. They’re dangerously close to being dragged back into the relegation scrap in a big way, which would be a shame given the great work that Chris Hughton has done over the last nine months. They’ve got the squad necessary to push themselves over the line, but it’ll take a big effort given their schedule over the last few weeks.
Team News
Davy Propper remains suspended with Izzy Brown and Steve Sidwell also still being absent due to injuries.
Tottenham
Despite the loss to Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are still within touching distance of securing their spot in the Champions League next season. They’ve been on a great run of form over the course of the last few months, and you can tell that Poch wants them to finish strong in order to give them something to build on for the 2018/19 campaign. Regardless of whether or not they rest anyone, their squad is more than good enough to come away with the three points.
Team News
Rose and Winks will miss out, although Fernando Llorente could return to the line-up.
Factors to Consider
- Tottenham have won their last three games against Brighton in all competitions.
- Brighton have picked up two red cards in their last three games.
- Spurs have won their last 16 games against newly promoted teams.
- Only Manchester City have won more points away from home this season than Tottenham.
- Brighton were victorious in their last home league game against Spurs.
Conclusion
Spurs will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final, but given their quality moving forward, they should still have more than enough firepower to see off the challenge of Brighton. We’ll predict a somewhat unconvincing 3-1 win for the visitors.
