The Premier League is back in action once again this week with a host of entertaining fixtures as we continue to steamroll towards the last few months of the season. There are a few clear races in which the favourite is becoming clear but in equal measure, there’s also a great deal of uncertainty still in the mix as we head into the month of March. Today, we’re going to take a look at a clash between two teams in desperate need of a positive result – Burnley and Leicester City.
Burnley
Sean Dyche is a master at finding ways to reinvent this Burnley side but many will always wonder when the wheels are going to fall off. A string of bad results in association with Fulham’s resurgence means there’s a chance they could be dragged into the relegation mix once again this season. Still, instead of thinking in a negative light, many fans would rather look at the positives of what Dyche has been able to create at Turf Moor – but that’ll only last so long.
Team News
Brady and Pieters are both fitness doubts heading into this game with the only two confirmed injury absences being Gudmundsson and Barnes.
Leicester
Leicester City could be in danger of a second skid out of the top four as the injuries pile up and the players continue to experience fatigue both on and off the pitch. They’ve worked hard to make a real go of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and now that they’re out of the Europa, they should be able to make this their main priority. Instead, though, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding where they’re going to end up this season.
Team News
As the injury list for Leicester continues to grow, many wonder what kind of team Rodgers is going to put out for the trip to Lancashire. Evans, Fofana and Maddison are all fitness doubts with Praet, Morgan, Perez, Justin and now Barnes being on the shelf as the situation worsens.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in September, Leicester beat Burnley 4-2.
- Burnley have won one, drawn three and lost two of their last six games.
- Leicester have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Burnley have scored five goals and conceded eight in their last six games.
- Leicester have scored seven goals and conceded seven in their last six games.
Burnley seem to have hit a brick wall and Leicester aren’t the best side to come up against in that instance. Sure, the Foxes have their fair share of issues within their squad, but they’re the kind of team who don’t respond well to teams sitting deep in an attempt to frustrate them. We don’t think this is going to be a classic by any stretch of the imagination, and we’re going to predict Leicester will just about edge out a narrow 1-0 win.
