Burnley and Manchester United will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this coming weekend. The match between Vincent Kompany’s side and Erik ten Hag’s team will be held at Turf Moor and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Saturday.

Burnley

Burnley blew everyone away in the Championship last season and were the best team in the division. In fact, you could even argue that Burnley were the best side in the Championship in years. Under former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany, Burnley picked up 101 points from 46 matches. They scored 87 goals.

However, things are not going so well for Burnley in the Premier League at the moment. There is a real danger that the Clarets could end up getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Burnley are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with just one point from four matches.

Burnley will head into the Premier League match against Manchester United at Turf Moor this coming weekend on the back of a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest away from home at the City Ground in the league on Monday evening. It followed a 5-2 loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor in the league and came after a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on the road in EFL Cup Second Round North tie.

Team News:

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is likely to line up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Turner, who joined from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, will be in goal. Montiel, Worrall, McKenna and Aina will be the four defenders. Sangare and Mangala will be the two defensive midfielder. Elanga, Gibbs-White and Hudson-Odoi will be the three attacking midfielders and will have Awoniyi playing upfront on his own.

Manchester United

Manchester United are arguably the biggest club in England, but things are going from bad to worse for Erik ten Hag’s side at the moment. There have been several off-pitch issues involving the players, and results and performances on the pitch have been dire as well. It is now unlikely that United will be able to challenge for the Premier League title.

United are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with six points from five matches. The Red Devils are five points above the relegation zone and seven points behind fourth-placed Arsenal. Erik ten Hag’s side are as many as nine points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City.

The Red Devils suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford in the Premier League this past weekend. It followed a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League which came after a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at home in the league.

Team News:

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Burnley. Onana will be in goal. Dalot, Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Reguilon will be the four defenders. Casemiro, McTominary, Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes will play in a diamond formation in midfield. Rashford and Hojlund will be the two forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Burnley have scored 4 goals in 4 Premier League matches,
  • Manchester United have scored 6 goals in 5 Premier League matches.
  • Burnley have conceded 12 goals in 4 Premier League games.
  • Manchester United have conceded 10 goals in 5 Premier League matches.
  • Manchester United have lost 3 of their 5 Premier League games.

Conclusion

Burnley are at home for the match, but they do not have as good a team as Manchester United do. While the Clarets are going to step up their game against the Red Devils, it is hard to see Erik ten Hag’s side drop all three points at Turf Moor. It is very likely that United will manage to pick up all three points from the game.

Prediction: Manchester United to win 2-0
