After starting off with hundreds of teams up and down the country, we’re finally down to the last two teams in this season’s FA Cup. It’s been one hell of a journey for the both of them but it’s finally set to come to an end at Wembley tomorrow as Chelsea go head to head with Leicester City. Both sides have earned their place in the final and now, just 90 minutes – and potentially extra time & penalties – stand in the way of them lifting that famous trophy up high.

Chelsea

The priority list is pretty extensive for Chelsea Football Club in the next few weeks and while it may include a battle for the top four as well as the Champions League final, we think it’s safe to say the FA Cup final is still going to serve as a significant moment in the career of Thomas Tuchel. After just a few months in the job, he’ll have the chance to immediately write his name into the record books by winning a piece of silverware at the first available attempt.

Team News

Kovacic has been officially ruled out of this one through injury whereas Pulisic is a fitness doubt, but elsewhere, Christensen and Rudiger are both expected to return in defence with questions arising over who will start in goal.

Leicester

Leicester City have finished as runners-up in this competition on four separate occasions, including three times in the 60s, but they’ve never actually taken that next step and won it all. The Foxes have had their fair share of ups and downs as the season has gone on but right now, they have a golden opportunity ahead of them – and Brendan Rodgers is well aware of that. In terms of opportunities to make history, they don’t come much bigger than this in English football.

Team News

Jonny Evans’ fitness will be a key issue heading into the final for Rodgers but one thing they can’t help is their confirmed injury list, which includes the following players: Justin, Barnes, Mogan and Under.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in January, Leicester beat Chelsea 2-0.
  • Chelsea have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
  • Leicester have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
  • Chelsea have scored eight goals and conceded three in their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored 11 goals and conceded seven in their last six games.

Conclusion

In a high stakes game such as this one we’re bound to see a lot of tentative play and high drama – but we think this is actually going to go down in a similar way to when Chelsea took on Everton in the final. The Blues will start slowly with Leicester probably getting the first goal but once they get into a nice flow and rhythm, Chelsea will be the ones to take over and eventually lift the FA Cup once again with a 2-1 victory.
