The Premier League is back in our lives this weekend and not a minute too soon, with a series of the biggest and best clubs around England preparing to lock horns. One such game that we’re really interested to see play out is Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur, as Roy Hodgson’s men clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Both teams have been moving in very different directions over the course of the last few months, but you just never know what you’re going to get in this utterly bizarre division.

Crystal Palace

The Eagles have been walking down a very dangerous path in recent weeks, and some would argue that they have no hope of pulling themselves out of the mess they’ve created. Of course, there’s still plenty of time for them to turn things around and thrust themselves into the top half of the table, but changes need to be made. They can’t just rely on having a lot of heart anymore, especially in a division as full of talent as this one. Whatever the case may be, though, they need a result and fast.

Team News

Benteke and Dann are still long term injury worries for Palace, but they have no other fresh concerns to deal with at this moment in time.

Tottenham

A lot of fans consider Tottenham to be overrated whereas many others view them as one of the best teams in the league, and potentially even Europe. While they aren’t exactly going to be challenging for the Premier League title in the next few months they certainly still have one of the strongest squads in the league, and that’s a big statement in itself. They’ll be confident of registering the win here even though they’re away from home, and that’s a nice level of confidence to have.

Team News

Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Jan Vertonghen will all miss out as Spurs attempt to readjust their squad for their trip across London.

Factors to Consider

  • The game will be played at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park.
  • Tottenham lead the overall head to head standings 28-11, with 13 draws between the clubs.
  • Tottenham won their last meeting back in February 1-0.
  • Crystal Palace have one draw and five losses in their last six games.
  • Tottenham have four wins, one draw and one loss in their last six games.

Conclusion

The pressure is really on the shoulders of Palace at this point, and all of the pieces need to come together in order to take a result from the game against Spurs. Unfortunately, we can’t see a scenario in which they’re able to do that, mainly because of just how strong Spurs are. The North London club will withstand a barrage of pressure from the home side before hitting back with two quickfire goals, and after Palace get one back, we’ll end up with a scoreline of 2-1 that properly illustrates the gap between these two teams right now.

Prediction: Tottenham win
