The German Bundesliga is one of many leagues resuming operations now that we’ve entered the new year and moved past the chaos of the Christmas period. It already seems as if the title race is going one way and one way only but beyond that, there are plenty of clubs still in the mix to try and force the issue and finish in the top four – including Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund.

Eintracht Frankfurt

For a few years now we’ve seen Eintracht Frankfurt flirt with the idea of breaking out and becoming a new German juggernaut. They’ve had nice moments here and there but haven’t quite been able to build on that in a way that would lead them to compete with the big boys, but one thing that can be said for them is that they’re unbelievably fun to watch both going forward and defensively.

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will be focusing a lot of their attention on keeping hold of some of their superstar names in the next few months but in addition to that, they also want to give Bayern Munich something to think about. The runaway leaders are in full control of the Bundesliga but if Dortmund can get all their big names firing, we could be in for one hell of an end to the campaign.

Conclusion

An electric game of football is what we’re expecting to see out of these two sides with Dortmund, predominantly, looking to hit the hosts on the break. Neither team is particularly astute at the back and we don’t think they’re going to focus too heavily on rectifying that here, instead opting for a “we’ll score more than you” approach – ending in a fascinating and lively 2-2 draw.
