The Premier League returns to your screens this weekend, and it would appear as if we’ve got an entertaining lineup ahead of us. All twenty teams have something to fight for at the midway point of the season, with these two sides, in particular, being poised quite delicately in the middle of the table. Everton and Bournemouth are both more than capable of pushing on towards the top half or dropping down further, and we’re intrigued to see how they’ve changed from their meeting earlier on in the season.
Everton
Under the guidance of Marco Silva, many fans believe that Everton have done as well as they could’ve hoped for at this stage of his tenure. Much like Unai Emery there is a transitional process which has been put in place, allowing for Silva to build something from the ground up. As we all know it’s going to take time for it to all come together but the early signs are positive, although a strong run of wins would certainly help to silence the doubters who believe he should be getting more out of his side.
Team News
It’s good news all around when it comes to the team news for Silva, as Everton have a clean bill of health heading into this one – meaning there can be no excuses if they don’t pick up the win.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth, on the other hand, need to do something in order to steady the ship a little bit. While you could argue their start to the season was better than Everton’s, their fall from grace has been so dramatic that Eddie Howe has almost certainly taken notice of the risks involved. They don’t feel like relegation contenders but they need to re-discover that cohesion which has served them so well in the past. It’ll be hard, but they’ve still got some big names on the books, and they just need to get over this hump.
Team News
Nathaniel Clyne is set to make his Premier League debut for Bournemouth, but Solanke is out through injury. King and Wilson are also doubts.
Factors to Consider
- The game will be played at Everton’s Goodison Park.
- Everton have won two and lost four of their last six games.
- Bournemouth have won one, drawn one and lost four of their last six games.
- Everton lead 7-2 in the overall head to head standings with two draws.
- In their last meeting back in August, they drew 2-2.
Conclusion
We’re really intrigued by this game, mainly because we want to see whether or not these teams are going to push the tempo. They’re both on bad runs of form but given their position in the table, they aren’t exactly in much danger right now when it comes to the relegation zone. We can see the Toffees taking a more relaxed approach to this encounter especially after their FA Cup win, with the Cherries pushing forward and eventually registering the three points as a result.
