The Premier League returns once again this weekend for a full set of fixtures in the top division of English football, and things are starting to get pretty interesting around here. Teams are beginning to settle down into their expectations for the campaign, whether that be pushing for the title or attempting to avoid relegation. Whatever the case may be there could be a lot at stake over the next 90 minutes of football for a lot of sides, and that includes Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Everton

The Toffees have been pretty hot and cold throughout the course of the campaign, but they always seem to know how to stick around in the top half of the table regardless of their form. They’ve got some big names in their squad that can cause anyone in this league problems on their day, but they’ll certainly have to strengthen in the summer if they want to sustain a place in the top eight. They certainly shouldn’t be afraid of Wolves, though, regardless of how well they’ve done this season.

Team News

Lucas Digne will be suspended for this one after his sending off during the week, with Geuye and Mina both being doubts courtesy of lingering injuries.

Wolves

When you’ve been able to draw or beat some of the biggest teams in the league, there’s nobody you should be afraid of. Alas, even if Wolves aren’t afraid of Everton, that doesn’t necessarily mean this is an automatic three points for them. They’ve got a habit of dropping points when it matters the most, and now that a Europa League spot is a genuine possibility, it’ll be interesting to see how they cope with the pressure of it all. Some suggest they’re going to crumble, but they haven’t done so yet.

Team News

Willy Boly is set to return from suspension but apart from that, Nuno has a full squad to choose from for the trip to Merseyside.

Factors to Consider

  • The game will be played at Everton’s Goodison Park.
  • Everton have won three and lost three of their last six games.
  • Wolves have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
  • Everton have scored eight goals and conceded seven in their last six games.
  • Wolves have 11 goals and conceded 11 in their last six games.

Conclusion

Wolves are going to be tough for anyone in this division to beat, but we’ve just got a feeling about Everton this weekend. Wolves don’t tend to set up well against teams who get physical and get in their faces, and it feels like the Toffees are going to exploit that. It may not be the prettiest performance you’re ever going to see but it’s going to be one you can’t take your eyes off, if only because the winner of this game puts themselves in prime position for a potential Europa League spot if things go their way later in the season.
