Today, we’re going to be taking a look at what should be an intriguing round of 16 meeting in the UEL between Inter Milan and Getafe.

Inter Milan

Inter may not have won the Serie A title, but their end to the campaign certainly leads us to believe that they’re in the right kind of form heading into the last few rounds of the Europa League. July was a rollercoaster ride of a month with two big wins over Spal and Genoa being sandwiched between draws against Roma and Fiorentina, but in their final two league games, they managed to surprise a lot of people by beating both Napoli and Atalanta 2-0.

Alexis Sanchez is expected to play what could be his final game for Inter as questions continue to be raised regarding his loan deal. Elsewhere, Martinez has been tipped to start after returning from suspension with Vecino and Sensi both being ruled out through injury.

Getafe

If Inter’s restart has been full of a whole lot of green, Getafe’s has had its fair share of red. They narrowly lost to Real Madrid back at the start of July before an uninspiring 0-0 draw against Osasuna raised more than a few eyebrows. They proceeded to lost 3-1 to Villarreal and draw 0-0 with Alaves, before two more drab performances in losses to Atletico Madrid and Levante.

Getafe will almost certainly be a bit rusty after not playing a competitive game since July 19th, but the good news for them is that they’ll come into this tie with a clean bill of health across the board.

Conclusion

Confidence is going to be such a huge factor at this stage of the tournament, and for that reason, we feel like Inter are the only ones that really have a chance at winning this. Getafe could always frustrate them at the back and grab a lucky goal on the counter, but it really does seem quite unlikely. It should be an entertaining enough game with Inter flexing their muscles and proving why they’re considered to be one of the favourites to win the whole thing, but it probably won’t be close.
