Juventus and Atalanta will lock horns with each other in Serie A this weekend. The match between La Fidanzata d’Italia and Gli Orobici will be held at Juventus Stadium in Turin and is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm UK time on Sunday.

Juventus

Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in Italy and are back to being a force to be reckoned with. For a period of time, the Bianconeri struggled to compete for the Scudetto, and although they are not going to win the Serie A title this season, at least they made an attempt.

La Fidanzata d’Italia are second in the Serie A table at the moment with 57 points from 27 matches. Juventus are as many as 15 points behind leaders Inter Milan, who look set to win the Scudetto this season. Juve are a point above third-placed AC Milan and are six points ahead of Bologna in fourth.

Juventus will head into the Serie A match against Atalanta on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Napoli away from home in the league. It came after a 3-2 victory over Frosinone in Serie A which followed a 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona on the road in the league.

Team News:

Juventus are likely to line up in a 3-5-2 formation. Wojciech Szczesny will be in goal for the former Serie A champions and will have Daniele Rugani, Bremer and Alex Sandro in front of him in defence. Carlo Alcarez, Manuel Locatelli and Fabio Miretti will be in midfield. Andrea Cambiaso and Samuel Iling-Junior will be the two wingers. Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic will be the two centre-forwards.

Atalanta

Atalanta have established themselves as a major team in Serie A in recent seasons. They have played in the UEFA Champions League and have regularly challenged for a place in the top four of the Serie A table. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini has transformed Atalanta, and they are going through a golden period in their history.

I Nerazzurri are very much in the running for a top-four finish in Serie A this season. Atalanta are sixth in the league table at the moment with 46 points from 27 matches. They are five points behind fourth-placed Bologna and could still end up in the UEFA Champions League places.

Atalanta lost 2-1 to Bologna at home in Serie A last weekend. It came after a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Inter Milan away from home in the league which came after a 1-1 draw with AC Milan at San Siro in Serie A.

 Team News:

Atalanta are likely to line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation. Marco Carnesecchi will be in goal for the home team and will have Giorgio Scalvini, Berat Djimsiti and Sead Kolasinac in front of him in defence. Davide Zappacosta, Teun Koopmeiners, Marten de Roon and Matteo Ruggeri will be the four midfielders. Mario Pasalic will be deployed as the playmaker. Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman will be the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Juventus have won 1 of their last 5 Serie A matches.
  • Juventus have conceded 21 goals in 27 Serie A matches.
  • Dusan Vlahovic has scored 15 goals and given 4 assists in 24 Serie A matches for Juventus.
  • Atalanta have lost 9 out of their 27 Serie A games this season.
  • Atalanta have scored 49 goals in 27 Serie A games this season.

Conclusion

While Atalanta are a good team and Juventus are not in great form at the moment, it is unlikely that Massimiliano Allegri’s side will drop all three points at home in the Serie A game this season. It is going to be a very entertaining but tight affair, and it is very likely that Juventus will edge it.

Prediction: Juventus to win 2-0
