The Premier League is back this weekend with a whole host of fixtures as we continue to march towards the end of the campaign. We’re into the final 10-game stretch now and at both ends of the table, there’s still a whole lot to be resolved in what should be a crazy few months. Today, we’ll be taking a look at a massive relegation six-pointer as Leeds United prepare to play host to Crystal Palace.
Leeds
Leeds United have been on a decent enough run of form recently but largely, the focus has been on getting back to their entertaining style of play. We expect to see that trend continue between now and the end of the campaign, and while it isn’t guaranteed to secure them survival, it’ll certainly be fun to watch. In games like this, though, they’ve done particularly well at edging out some of their relegation rivals.
Team News
Forshaw, Adams, Dallas and Wober are all out of action through injury here.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace fans winced at the thought of Roy Hodgson returning following the sacking of Patrick Vieira. With that being said, the fact that he got off to a winning start in his first game back did raise a few eyebrows. The Eagles aren’t likely to wow the masses in any kind of extensive way between now and the end of the season, but at the very least, they have an experienced gaffer who knows what it takes at this level.
Team News
Zaha remains injured with question marks surrounding the fitness of Richards and Ferguson.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in October, Palace beat Leeds 2-1.
- Leeds have won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six games.
- Palace have won one, drawn one and lost four of their last six games.
- Leeds have scored nine goals and conceded 12 in their last six games.
- Palace have scored three goals and conceded eight in their last six games.
Conclusion
This is going to be a really entertaining clash with both teams, in our view, being likely to throw caution to the wind. That isn’t typically the style that Roy goes for but he’ll be forced to do so when Leeds are putting the pressure on the visitors. It’s bound to be a clash that goes right down to the wire and ultimately, we do think the boys from Yorkshire will be able to pull a win out of the hat.
