Hoping to lay down a marker outside of the capital this weekend, West Ham will make the trip to the King Power on Sunday afternoon when they meet Leicester.

Leicester

Starting with the hosts, suffering what was a routine 2-0 defeat away at Liverpool earlier in the week, Leicester have the feel of a side in the midst of a worrying blip. With Brendan Rodgers vocal about his side’s issues over recent weeks, the Foxes have now managed to win just a trio of their last 12 matchups across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to November 28th. Dropping out the top-half of the Premier League table and with growing pressure on the one-time Celtic boss, Leicester have really failed to recover from their woeful FA Cup departure last weekend. Making the trip to local rivals and Championship outfit Nottingham Forest, the Blues were hit with a stunning 4-1 drumming at the City Ground. Growing a recent reputation for their rather glaring problems at the back this season, Rodgers will be more than aware that his side could face another tough test here.

Team News

Leicester have confirmed that Jamie Vardy, Wesley Fofana and Johnny Evans are also expected to once again miss out with injury issues here.

Having to settle for a place on the bench at Anfield, the likes of Harvey Barnes, Jannik Vestergaard and Youri Tielemans will be hoping for a recall on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham

As for the visitors, while West Ham might not have once again been at their best earlier in the week, the Hammers did manage to pick up a crucial three points in the capital. Eventually claiming a 1-0 win against relegation scrappers Watford, David Moyes’ men have also managed to find a route back into the Champions League places. Continuing to gain a host of plaudits from across the Premier League this season, the one-time Manchester United manager will be desperate for his side to lay down a real marker here. Just scrapping past non-league outfit Kidderminster last weekend and extending on their FA Cup adventure, West Ham also have one attacking talisman enjoying a stellar purple patch. Bagging the winner against Watford in midweek, Jarrod Bowen has scored six goals in as many appearances across all competitions. Claiming a 4-1 win when they faced off against Leicester back in August, the Hammers could be smelling a chance here.

Team News

Despite a public outrage earlier in the week due to a leaked social media video, Kurt Zouma is once again expected to start at the heart of West Ham’s defence.

Coming off the bench and impressing against Watford, Manuel Lanzini could replace Saïd Benrahma in attack.

Key Factors to Consider

    • When Sunday’s opponents meet for their reverse meeting in August, West Ham picked up a 4-1 win at the London Stadium.
    • In fact, the Hammers have won each of their last three Premier League meetings against Leicester.
    • The Foxes have managed to win just a trio of their last 12 matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to the end of November.
    • Jarrod Bowen has recorded six goals in as many appearances across all competitions.
    • Six of the last seven meetings between Leicester and West Ham have finished with both teams finding the net.

    Conclusion

Managing to pick up a much-needed 1-0 win against Watford earlier in the week, West Ham will undoubtedly be looking to keep up that momentum here. Finding a route back into the Champions League places, the Hammers also hold a rather rampant record against Sunday’s hosts. Storming their way to a 4-1 victory when they welcomed the Foxes to east London back in August, they have now won each of their last three Premier League meetings against Brendan Rodgers’ strugglers. Crashing out of the FA Cup thanks to a drumming against Championship outfit Nottingham Forest last weekend, Leicester find themselves in the midst of another wobble. However, it should be noted, with six of the last seven meetings between Sunday’s opponents finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome here.

    Verdict: Both teams to score

    Best Odds: 4/6
