The Premier League is back once again this weekend with another full slate of fixtures to take us through to the end of January. There’s still a whole lot of uncertainty regarding what some teams are aiming for and what other teams are struggling with, but either way, there’s a lot of excitement in the air. Today, we’ll take a look at an intriguing clash between Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Leicester

Leicester City are a long way from where they once were. As opposed to being a side that other teams fear, they look disjointed. At times this season it’s looked like Brendan Rodgers has run out of ideas, which is strange, given the quality he possesses in this squad. The Foxes are devoid of confidence and if they don’t rediscover it soon, then a battle with relegation genuinely seems possible.

Team News

Dewsbury-Hall, Perez and Maddison are all fitness concerns. Elsewhere, the confirmed injury absences are Justin, Pereira, Bertrand, Soumare and Evans.

Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion are one of the great success stories of the last five years. After making their way into the Premier League, many thought they’d head straight back down – but that hasn’t been the case. The Seagulls are going from strength to strength and at this stage, we’d be somewhat surprised if we don’t see them playing European football next season – or, at the very least, challenging for it.

Team News

Moder is the only confirmed absentee through injury whereas Trossard is unlikely to play given the rumours of a transfer away.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in September, Brighton beat Leicester 5-2.
  • Leicester have won one and lost five of their last six games.
  • Brighton have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored two goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
  • Brighton have scored 17 goals and conceded seven in their last six games.

Conclusion

There’s something about this game that leads us to believe it’ll be quite open. The hosts will probably have to wait for Brighton to get going before they go back at them but if they can exploit them through quick passing and outlets down the middle, they could have some success. Ultimately, we expect this to be a pretty thrilling game, ending in a 2-2 draw that neither side will be overly pleased with.
