The international break has been and gone and in its place, we have the return of Premier League football. We’re closing in on the final eight-game stretch of the season and it’s time to start whittling down the contenders in a range of different mini-contests up and down the table. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a pretty intriguing clash between Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
Leicester
Leicester City are still in the mix in the Conference League but in the Premier League, they’re making some slow progress – which is a shame for their fanbase who have been used to top four challenges across the last couple of years. They’ve still got the players necessary to manage all of their remaining commitments but big changes may be needed in the summer.
Team News
While their injury list may have easd slightly, there are still issues for Leicester to deal with as Perez, Soyuncu and Soumare are doubts with Ndidi, Ward, Bertrand and Vardy being injured.
Crystal Palace
Patrick Vieira has Crystal Palace sitting fourth in the form table which is a far cry from the Roy Hodgson days. They’re playing with the kind of confidence that speaks volumes to the strategy and method he’s implemented and while they probably aren’t going to qualify for Europe via the league, we shouldn’t rule out their FA Cup hopes.
Team News
Ferguson is currently viewed as a fitness doubt with the only confirmed absence being Olise, who should return to training later this month.
Factors to Consider
- Leicester and Palace are both still in with a chance of securing a seventh place finish.
- Leicester have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games.
- Palace have won four and drawn two of their last six games.
- Leicester have scored six goals and conceded six in their last six games.
- Palace have scored 12 goals and conceded two in their last six games.
Conclusion
Palace at home are a completely different animal but with the impetus on Leicester to put the pressure on during their gams in hand, and given that this is an away day for the Eagles, we’re going to say the Foxes will get over the finish line. It’ll be a fun affair between two of the top flight’s most underrated sides with a 2-1 victory going to Brendan Rodgers’ men.
