The Premier League season is slowly but surely coming to an end this month with a parade of exciting fixtures left to be played. There’s so much left to fight for at both ends of the table from the relegation scrap to the top four race, with Leicester City being positioned nicely to make some noise in the Champions League debate. If they’re serious about getting over the finish line, though, they first need to battle it out with Newcastle United in an intriguing bout at the King Power Stadium tomorrow night.

Leicester

Between the FA Cup final and their position in the Premier League table, it’s safe to say this is an incredible time to be a Leicester City fan. The status quo of the ‘big six’ is really starting to dwindle and we’d even say it could evaporate entirely by the time we get to next season. The Foxes aren’t here to mess around and they appear to be over the mental shortcomings that stopped them from succeeding last season. So, in short, nobody really knows what their ceiling is.

Team News

Morgan is set to be a fitness doubt for this one with the only two confirmed injury absences for the hosts being James Justin and Harvey Barnes.

Newcastle

The debate surrounding whether or not Steve Bruce is the right man for the job on Tyneside will likely rage on for weeks and months to come. Still, it looks like they’re going to stay in the Premier League beyond the current season, which is perhaps the one and only big takeaway that will give Magpies supporters any joy. Between now and the end of the campaign all the fans really want to see is a bit more fight – and that’s not a whole lot to ask for.

Team News

There are several absentees for the visitors that they’ll have to contend with for the trip down to Leicester. Schar is suspended after his red card against Arsenal with the following players being ruled out through injury: Hayden, Lascelles, Fraser and Darlow.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in January, Leicester beat Newcastle 2-1.
  • Leicester have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
  • Newcastle have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored nine goals and conceded seven in their last six games.
  • Newcastle have scored eight goals and conceded 11 in their last six games.

Conclusion

Now that Newcastle are pretty much safe, it certainly feels as if half of the squad is already on the beach. Whether you agree with that assessment or not there’s no denying Leicester have more to fight for, which always seems to leave them vulnerable to slipping up. We think this is going to be a stalemate for large portions of the game but eventually, the Foxes will dig deep and find the goal they need to edge out a huge win.
