As we move through the month of April there are still plenty of things left to be determined in English football’s top tier from the title picture to the relegation battle and beyond. Many fans feel as if they know the direction of travel with some choosing to look ahead to the Euros already, but before we get to all of that, there’s still a great deal of intrigue behind some of the remaining fixtures – and that includes Manchester City vs Leeds United.
Manchester City
Manchester City are the scariest team in world football right now and there isn’t a particularly close second. They are on the verge of making history in the next few months as they pursue an unprecedented quadruple across the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. They’re the favourites to win every single competition, but as we all know, football is a little bit more complicated than that.
Team News
The expectation is that there will be heavy rotation from Pep with the second leg against Dortmund being on the horizon. In terms of injuries, there are no fitness concerns for the hosts to worry about.
Leeds
There aren’t going to be all too many Leeds fans who are disappointed with their team’s season, but if they really want to make a statement, finishing in the top half of the table would be a good way to do so. They’ve got a whole lot of quality within their ranks and it finally feels as if they’ve got a balance in the squad that can make them a sustained force next season. For now, though, they just have to treat each game as a learning curve.
Team News
Forshaw is out of action for this one with Harrison also being out for this game against his parent club. Rodrigo is set to push for a place in the starting XI with Cooper and Hernandez also tipped to feature.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in October, Leeds and Man City drew 1-1.
- Man City have won their last six games in all competitions.
- Leeds have won three, drawn one and lost two of their last six games.
- Man City have scored 16 goals and conceded three in their last six games.
- Leeds have scored seven goals and conceded five in their last six games.
Leeds, if they know what’s good for them, will come out and really try to challenge City by getting in their face and giving them a bloody nose. We’re not so sure it’s going to make a lasting difference to the result but if they want to go out on their shield, which we’ve seen them do many times this season, that’s the way to do it. In the end we’re going to back City to come away with a narrow 1-0 win in what should be one of the most exciting games of the weekend. Prediction: Man City win Best Odds: 2/7 Bookmaker: 888sport
