The Premier League is starting to wind down bit by bit, and things are really getting interesting. It seems as if the race for the top four is over, we know who has been relegated, and there are a lot of teams who will already be thinking about their summer holidays. With that being said, both Manchester City & Leicester City will be well aware of the fact that they’ve got a lot left to play for when they meet at the Etihad. Whatever happens, we’re predicting a pretty entertaining encounter between the two.

Manchester City

After one of the strongest domestic seasons in recent memory, Manchester City have the chance to solidify themselves as one of the greatest English teams in recent history. They’ve got the FA Cup final to worry about against Watford, but in addition to that, they have the chance to retain the Premier League title by winning their next two league games. That sounds like a pretty simple goal for such an accomplished side, but you just never know what surprises could be waiting for them.

Team News

De Buyne and Bravo are set to miss out, Fernandinho is a doubt, and Mendy’s fitness is still a big point of concern for the club.

Leicester

Brendan Rodgers has been able to breathe new life into this Leicester City squad, to the point where they’re starting to dream of life in the Europa League (and potentially even beyond) once again. It doesn’t seem like an absolute guarantee that they’re going to be in there over the next few years, but the fact that they’re still in the game with so few matches remaining in a great sign. It’s been a season of tragedy and triumph for the Foxes, but they’ll be desperate to end things on a high.

Team News

Amartey is the only major injury worry for Leicester heading into this game. Gray and Barnes will hope to start, with question marks being raised over whether Choudhury will hold down his place in the starting XI.

Factors to Consider

  • Leicester won the return fixture 2-1 on Boxing Day.
  • Man City have won five and lost one of their last six games.
  • Leicester have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six games.
  • Man City have scored 11 goals and conceded five in their last six games.
  • Leicester have scored 13 goals and conceded five in their last six games.

Conclusion

Leicester are going to come flying out of the blocks, and so they should. They don’t really have anything to lose and they’ve got the kind of style that could seriously cause City some problems. We think they’re going to take the lead at the Etihad (which seems crazy), but that’s what we’re going with. Eventually, though, we believe the title contenders will take over, and eventually dominate proceedings. They’ll end up winning pretty comfortably, taking back control of the title race from Liverpool in the process.

Prediction: Manchester City win
