Red-hot Manchester United will be hoping to extend the impressive winning run against 2014/2015 hampions Leicester City, who returned to winning ways against Brighton last weekend. With all their title rivals struggling at the moment, this is another good opportunity for the Red Devils to create an early advantage at the top.

Manchester United

With Jose Mourinho usually impressing in his second season after taking over the reigns, Manchester United fans hoped the trend would continue at Old Trafford, and they may have been spot on. Summer arrivals Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic fitted effortlessly with their new teammates and we are only waiting for Victor Lindelof to start showing what he’s got. While they didn’t look too good in the UEFA Super Cup clash against mighty Real Madrid, Manchester United enjoyed 4-0 wins over West Ham and Swansea at the start of the Premier League campaign, showing a ruthless side that we haven’t seen before. It remains to be seen how the Red Devils will cope with the busy schedule once the Champions League campaign and domestic Cups start, but so far they’ve been really good. Playing with a great deal of confidence at the moment, Jose Mourinho’s side will fancy their chances against Leicester City, although we are not convinced they can keep yet another clean sheet.

Team News

Marcos Rojo continues to miss out through injury, while Anthony Martial could replace Marcus Rashford after two great cameo roles.

Leicester City

Leicester City hope to improve on last season, when they spent the majority of the campaign fighting for their lives, and manager Craig Shakespeare will be delighted to see the back of the summer transfer window as a number of his important players continues to be linked with a summer exit. This transfer speculation probably marred team’s preparations for the new campaign, but the Foxes, nonetheless, came really close to upsetting Arsenal at the Emirates in the opener, even if they had to settle for a narrow defeat after conceding two late goals. Leicester City then showed improvement against Brighton, recording a 2-0 triumph, while the back-up players impressed in the 4-1 hammering of Sheffield United in midweek. Islam Slimani and Demarai Gray particularly impressed, giving the manager a genuine selection headache ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. And while the visitors may not be able to cope with Man Utd’s outstanding attacking potential, we fully expect the likes of Mahrez, Okazaki, Vardy and Albrighton to cause the opposition defenders plenty of problems.

Team News

Robert Huth remains sidelined through injury, while Danny Drinkwater, Wes Morgan, Kelechi Iheanacho and Vicente Iborra are all rated doubtful.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Man Utd recorded two 4-0 wins
  • Leicester scored 9 goals in first 3 games of the season
  • Both teams scored in six of their last seven meetings
  • Man Utd won four of last six fixtures vs Leicester (D2)
  • Lukaku, Martial and Pogba all scored in both EPL matches this term

Conclusion

Manchester United have been bagging goals for fun in the opening exchanges, but their back line is not as strong as two clean sheet would suggest. Having been averaging three goals per game, we fully expect Leicester City to score at Old Trafford.

Verdict: Both teams to score

Best Odds: 1/1
