Following another intriguing international break it’s once again time to dive back into the chaos of domestic football, as teams up and down the country begin the process of trying to get a foothold in their respective campaigns. The Premier League, arguably the most exciting league in all of European football, isn’t exempt from that as all twenty side attempt to get themselves back in the win column. In the game we’ll be taking a look at today, Manchester United are set to go head to head with Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Manchester United
Following a few less than convincing results, questions have been raised as to whether or not Solskjaer is still the man that is able to successfully lead Manchester United back to their glory days. They have a series of really talented stars but in terms of acting as a cohesive unit, they just don’t seem capable of doing it. They’ve got the pedigree and the backing necessary to take some serious steps forward this season, but there still appears to be some kind of mental block preventing them from doing so.
Team News
Wan-Bissaka and Lingard are set to be fit enough to feature here, with Pogba and Martial both being a doubt due to injuries.
Leicester
Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City have been able to get off to a dream start this season. Despite some initial reservations about his hiring, Rodgers has been able to transform the Foxes back into a team capable of challenging for the European places. They play with a defensive structure at the back but also have more talent than they’re given credit for when going forward, and if they can continue to fly under the radar, then anything is possible for them between now and May.
Team News
Leicester are set to have their strongest starting XI available, with Perez being tipped to replace Albrighton and Choudhury being expected to start.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in February, Man United beat Leicester 1-0.
- Man United have won one, drawn two and lost one of their Premier League games this season.
- Leicester have won two and drawn two of their Premier League games this season.
- Man United have scored seven goals and conceded four in the PL this season.
- Leicester have scored six goals and conceded three in the PL this season.
Conclusion
Leicester are a tricky side to beat, but if United don’t get another notable win soon, the pressure could start to mount onto the shoulders of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. We think they’ll be able to just able edge out the Foxes in this one, restoring some of the confidence they’ve lost in the last few weeks in the process. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of approach Leicester come out with, but either way, we think it’ll be a tight game with United just about managing to get the three points.
