Manchester United and Luton Town will lock horns with each other in the Premier League this weekend. The match between The Red Devils and The Hatters will be held at Old Trafford and is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm UK time on Saturday.

Manchester United

Manchester United are arguably the biggest club in England and do have a strong team, but things are dire for the Red Devils at the moment. Erik ten Hag’s side are struggling both in the Premier League and in the UEFA Champions League at the moment.

United suffered a shock 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen away from home in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. The Red Devils are now at the bottom of Group A with three points from four matches, a point behind FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray, who are second and third respectively in the standings. Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are at the top of Group A with 12 points from four games.

Erik ten Hag’s side are as low as eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 18 points from 11 matches. The Red Devils are six points behind Arsenal in fourth. City rivals and defending champions Manchester City are at the top of the table with 27 points from 11 games.

Team News:

Manchester United are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Andre Onana will be the goalkeeper for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Diogo Dalot will be the four defenders and will have Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen ahead of them in holding midfield. Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho will be the three attacking midfielders. Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for the Red Devils.

Luton Town

Luton Town are arguably the smallest club in the Premier League. It was a massive feat from the Hatters that they got promoted from the Championship at the end of last season in the first place. It is going to be extremely hard for Luton to retain their Premier League status for next season.

Rob Edwards’s side are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with six points from 11 matches. Luton are level on points with third-from-bottom Bournemouth. Burnley and Sheffield United are the two other teams in the bottom three.

Luton have lost three and drawn two of their last five Premier League matches. They played out a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at home in the Premier League last weekend. It came after a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park in the league which followed a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest away from home at the City Ground.

Team News:

Luton Town are likely to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Thomas Kaminiski will be in goal for the home team. Taden Mengi, Tom Lockyer and Gabriel Osho will be the three defenders and will have Issa Kabore, Marvelous Nakamba, Ross Barkley and Alfie Doughty will front of them in midfield. Carlton Morris will lead the line for Luton and will have Chiedozie Ogbene and Andros Townsend behind him in attacking midfield.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Manchester United have scored 12 goals in 11 Premier League matches.
  • Manchester United have conceded 16 goals in 11 Premier League matches.
  • Luton Town have lost 7 out of 11 Premier League games this season.
  • Luton Town have conceded 21 goals in 11 Premier League games.
  • Rasmus Hojlund has scored 5 goals in 14 Premier League matches this campaign.

Conclusion

Luton Town have been one of the worst teams in the Premier League so far this season. Although Manchester United are not at their absolute best, it is very likely that they will pick up all three points from the match at Old Trafford with ease.

Prediction: Manchester United to win 3-0
