We’re back to the Premier League this weekend with a fun set of fixtures that lie ahead of us. There’s a pretty good chance we’re going to see some really fun encounters, and one place in which you’re going to see that will be at Carrow Road as Norwich City host Manchester United. Neither side is in a particularly great spot at this moment in time, and it’s going to take an almighty effort for them to drag themselves out of this rut and into a more positive position in the top flight.
Norwich
Norwich are a do or die kind of team and it certainly seems as if they’re going to live by the sword and die by the sword this season. Regardless of whether or not they head straight back down into the Championship, you can bet that we’re going to get some serious entertainment value from them this season. They’ll hope to strengthen in certain areas when the January transfer window is upon us, but for the time being, it’s all about preservation and picking up as many points as possible.
Team News
Godfrey should be fit to take on United with Fahrmann’s fitness being called into question before the game.
Manchester United
Ole is no longer at the wheel, and it’s safe to say we’ve got some serious issues going on up at Old Trafford. While they have the players within their squad to be in a much better position than they’re in right now, there doesn’t appear to be any kind of passion or drive behind what they’re doing. The tactics are all wrong and they simply aren’t playing for the badge on their shirt, which is the least we’ve come to expect from Manchester United over the years.
Team News
De Gea should make the starting XI despite his groin issue, with Pereira and Fred hoping to remain in the team after their performances against Liverpool.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting back in May 2016, Manchester United beat Norwich 1-0.
- Norwich have won one, drawn one and lost four of their last six games.
- Man United have won one, drawn four and lost one of their last six games.
- Norwich have scored four goals and conceded 13 in their last six games.
- Man United have scored four goals and conceded four in their last six games.
Conclusion
Manchester United aren’t good enough to beat a lot of teams in this league and if Norwich are capable of beating City, they can overcome United, too. The Canaries will push forward from the word go without any fear, and that’s the right kind of approach that they need. They’re going to put United into a position where they’re pushed against the wall and they aren’t able to breathe. This team is so low on confidence right now that they just aren’t going to be capable of handling that sort of pressure, and that’s why we’re backing the home side to get the three points.
