We’re in the endgame now of what has been a thoroughly entertaining season for all major European leagues. There are just a few games remaining, most of which are cup finals, with one of them taking place in Germany. RB Leipzig will be going head to head with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, in what should be a pretty entertaining clash of styles. Bayern are obviously going to be the favourites, but you just never know what you’re going to get when there’s a trophy involved.
RB Leipzig
Leipzig have been progressively getting better and better as the years have gone on, to the point where many believe they could be legitimate title contenders next season. This time around they’ve managed to secure a respectable 3rd place finish, but in order to keep up with Bayern and Dortmund, they need to try and bring in one or two star names during the summer transfer window. It’s not going to be easy, but that’s what they need to do if they want to keep the pace with the big boys.
Team News
Kampl, Sabitzer and Forsberg are expected to return after being rested. Werner is set to start in what could be his final game for the club with Klostermann, Konate, Orban and Halstenberg also being fit for the game.
Bayern Munich
Earlier on in the campaign it seemed as if there was a chance Bayern’s title challenge could fall apart – but as they so often do, they were able to run things around. They pushed back against Dortmund and registered yet another Bundesliga title win, but of course, a lot of the talk has been surrounding the impending departures of some of their most notable stars. Even with those losses, though, they should still feel pretty confident about their ability to add to their ranks during the summer.
Team News
Rafinha, Robben and Ribery likely won’t start, but will probably come off the bench in what is sure to be their respective final games for the club.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich drew 0-0.
- Leipzig have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six games.
- Bayern have won four and drawn two of their last six games.
- Leipzig have scored 11 goals and conceded eight of their last six games.
- Bayern have scored 13 goals and conceded five in their last six games.
Conclusion
Both clubs have had really strong seasons, but when it comes to the big occasions, it just feels like Bayern are going to have Leipzig’s number here. This is going to be the last hurrah for a lot of their top stars, and the last thing they’ll want is to go out on a loss. Bayern are going to see a lot of changes come to their club over the course of the next few months, but before worrying about all of that, they will (likely) be able to celebrate one final trophy in what should be a pretty entertaining final.
