Real Madrid and Celta de Vigo will lock horns with each other in La Liga this weekend. The match between Los Merengues and Los/Os Celestes will be held at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 pm UK time on Sunday.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in the world and regularly win and challenge for major trophies. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been brilliant so far this season, and Los Blancos will be keen on winning the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

Los Blancos are at the top of the La Liga table at the moment with 66 points from 27 matches. Madrid are as many as seven points ahead of second-placed and surprise package Girona. Madrid’s bitter rivals and last season’s champions Barcelona are third with 58 points from 27 games. The La Liga title this season is Madrid’s to lose.

Before facing Celta de Vigo at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga this weekend, Madrid will face RB Leipzig at home in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie. Ancelotti’s side played out a 2-2 draw with Valencia away from home in La Liga last weekend which came after a 1-0 victory over Sevilla at home in the league.

Team News:

Real Madrid are likely to line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation. Andriy Lunin will be in goal for Los Blancos and will have Dani Carvajal, Aurelien Tchouameni, Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy in front of him in defence. Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga will be the three midfielders. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo will lead the line for Los Blancos. With Jude Bellingham suspended, Luka Modric could replace him as the number 10.

Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo are an established club in La Liga and are well known. Although they do not tend to challenge for major trophies or for European places in the La Liga table, they tend to stay in the top flight of Spanish football. However, there is a real danger of Celta going down to the Segunda Division at the end of the season under former Real Madrid and Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

Los/Os Celestes are as low as 17th in the La Liga table at the moment with 24 points from 27 matches. They are five points above the bottom three and are two points behind Rayo Vallecano, who are 16th. Things are dire for Celta.

Celta will head into the La Liga match against Real Madrid this weekend on th back of a 1-0 victory over Almeria at home in the league. It came after a 2-2 draw with Cadiz on the road in La Liga which came after a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in front of their fans in La Liga.

Team News:

Celta de Vigo are likely to line up in a 4-4–2 formation against Real Madrid. Vicente Guaita will be in goal for the visiting team and will have Javier Manquillo, Carl Starfelt, Unai Nunez and. Manu Sanchez in front of him in defence. Oscar Mingueza, Fran Beltran, Luca de la Torre and Jonathan Bamba will be the four midfielders. Anastasios Douvikas and Jorgen Strand Larsen will be the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Real Madrid have won 2 of their last 5 La Liga matches.
  • Real Madrid have lost just 1 of their 27 La Liga matches this season.
  • Real Madrid have scored 56 goals in 27 La Liga matches this season.
  • Celta de Vigo have lost 2 of their last 5 La Liga games.
  • Celta de Vigo have scored 30 goals in 27 La Liga games.

Conclusion

Celta de Vigo have been one of the worst teams in La Liga this season and could get relegated to the Segunda Division at the end of the campaign. Real Madrid have one of the best and strongest teams in Spain, and it is hard to see anything other than a comfortable win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Prediction: Real Madrid to win 4-0
