It’s time for another round of Spanish football as La Liga returns to our screens this week. There’s a whole host of exciting games for us to enjoy, with there still being a lot left to determine at both ends of the table. Today, we’ll be taking a look at a clash between two clubs that have been flying high for the majority of the season as Real Sociedad prepare to play host to Real Madrid.

After years in the wilderness, Real Sociedad are being consistently recognized as one of the best teams in Spain right now. They may not be the biggest goalscorers but they certainly know how to grind out results, and the expectation is that it’ll lead them to the promised land of the Champions League later this year. Of course, if that’s what they want, they can’t afford to get complacent in the next six games.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid are all but out of the race to claim the La Liga title this season. With that being said, they’re in the final of the Copa del Rey and they’re in the semi-finals of the Champions League. This club simply does not know when to die on the elite stage, and across Europe, they continue to surprise the masses. Over the course of the next few weeks, we expect to see them really turn things up a notch.

Conclusion

We expect this to be a tight affair with Sociedad rarely threatening to push the pace, even though they have the attacking options to do so. Madrid will try and pick their moments, slowly but surely working their way into the final third. They’ll have success across the first half hour or so but we think the frustration of being constantly denied will get to them, and in the end, we’ll be left with a draw.
