The Serie A season is coming to an end this season, and whilst there are still a few things left to sort out, one thing that is a certainty is Juventus’ title win. They’ve been able to control the title race in a manner that we haven’t seen in a good few years, to the point where it’s difficult to imagine anyone stopping them next season either. Alas, the Italian giants still have work to do before they can go off and enjoy their holidays, as Juventus prepares to Sampdoria on the final day.
Sampdoria
Sampdoria have had one of those seasons that wasn’t too high and wasn’t too low, as they finish up the campaign in the middle of the pile. There are lofty ambitions amongst some fans for them to push on towards even bigger and better things next season, but first things first: they need to have a strong summer transfer window. If they want to compete with the big boys then an investment is essential, and in the same vein, they need to consider weeding out some of the deadwood within the squad.
Team News
Caprari, Defrel, Ramirez, Saponara and Gabbiadini are all available, but only two will be able to start. Quagliarella will start in an attempt to confirm his Golden Boot title.
Juventus
Despite failing to win the Champions League, Juventus were still able to seize control of Serie A as they’ve been able to do so consistently over the course of the last few years. The Old Lady has been fairly unstoppable, and now, it’s all about adding to their legacy – and adding to their kingdom. Winning the European Cup appears to be one of the primary objectives this club has right now, and with Allegri set to leave, the next appointment at the top is going to be vitally important.
Team News
Juventus have eight players out through injury and suspensions: Perin, Khedira, Costa, Mandzukic, Cancelo, Chiellini, Matuidi and Bernardeschi.
Factors to Consider
- In their last meeting, Juventus beat Sampdoria 2-1.
- Sampdoria have won one, drawn two and lost three of their last six games.
- Juventus have won one, drawn three and lost two of their last six games.
- Sampdoria have scored seven goals and conceded 10 in their last six games.
- Juventus have scored six goals and conceded eight in their last six games.
Conclusion
Juventus have big, big plans for the summer transfer window, but even with that being the case, we still think they’ll want to end the season as strongly as they possibly can. We can see them tearing through a Sampdoria team that, frankly, have nothing to play for – and haven’t ended the campaign particularly well either. We’re expecting the home side to try and turn on the style given that it’s the last game of the season, but in the end, it isn’t going to be enough to stop this Juve train from slowing down.
