Friday Night Football is going to be back in our lives tomorrow evening, but not in the way that you might have thought – because it’s La Liga that will be taking centre stage as opposed to the Premier League. The game that we’ll be taking a look at today will see Sevilla go head to head with Celta Vigo, in what we consider to be a pretty intriguing match-up. Both sides have the potential to do some big things this season, but you could argue that they are their own worst enemies respectively.
Sevilla
Following a season in which they finished sixth in La Liga and failed to make much of an impact on the European stage, Sevilla appear to have made some changes over the summer that will allow them to challenge in a more serious manner over the course of the next nine months. They’ve long since been known as a team that is capable of beating anyone else in the league, or in Europe, on their day, but now they’ll want to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with on a consistent basis.
Team News
Reguilon is set to be fit in time for the game after picking up a head injury, meaning that there aren’t expected to be any changes to the starting XI.
Celta Vigo
The always entertaining Celta Vigo were able to maintain their La Liga status by the skin of their teeth last season, finishing in 17th place – four points above Girona who were relegated alongside Huesca and Rayo Vallecano. Judging by the manner in which they’ve begun the current campaign, it would appear as if we’re going to be in for another entertaining season from them both home and away. Of course, one of the biggest questions for them will be whether or not they’re defensively strong enough to avoid the drop again.
Team News
Mallo and Aidoo are tipped to feature at the back for the visitors, with Santi Mina being fit after making an appearance off the bench in their last game.
Factors to Consider
- The game will be played at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
- Sevilla have won both of their La Liga games so far this season.
- Celta Vigo have won one and lost one of their La Liga games so far this season.
- Sevilla have scored three goals and conceded none this season.
- Celta Vigo have scored two goals and conceded three this season.
Conclusion
Sevilla have started the season really well, and while Celta Vigo willl cause them a few issues, we can’t imagine that it’ll be enough to take points off of them. We’re picturing a game that is pretty tight throughout the first half, with Celta Vigo coming straight at the hosts – which is something they haven’t been afraid to do all season long. However, there’s just too much of a threat on the other side of the ball for Sevilla, and we think they’ll end up running away with the three points.
